What we can expect from Poland against Saudi Arabia

Poland take on Saudi Arabia tomorrow afternoon in their second game of the World Cup at the Education City Stadium in Al-Rayyan. Poland will be hoping to bounce back from their poor showing against Mexico and Saudi Arabia will be hoping to keep their impressive start to the tournament going after their shock win against Argentina.

Team news is more pertinent from the Saudi camp; they will reportedly be without two of their star players in defender Yasser Al Sharani and captain Salman Al Faraj. Coach Herve Renard (who has often said he would one day like to be Selekcjoner given his Polish heritage) has been quick to dispel rumours of complacency and over-confidence.

Czesław Michniewicz has reported that the two injury doubts for Poland, Bartosz Bereszyński and Krystian Bielik, are fit and ready to be called upon tomorrow. Michniewicz was also quick to point out that there will be a different style of play and perhaps different personnel to the game on Tuesday.

With this in mind, I would expect the starting XI to look like this:

Przemysław Frankowski was impressive when introduced, although whether it will be Frankowski or Jakub Kamiński starting is still a key talking point. Given the comments about a change in the style of play, this could be a hint that the back three will be returning for Poland. I would also expect these comments to indicate we will see a second striker to partner Robert Lewandowski from the start.
